Prologue AIWI cont. by ~silverangelmimzy:iconsilverangelmimzy:

A dying figure breathed hard over The Box. She finally figured it out, and yet she knew the end was almost there. She quickly dumped the spinners, the crystal, the abacus, codex , “key”, and  of course the vessel that was to help her on her journey. A real live guardian from one of her godfathers mythical worlds of Wonderland from when she was a child. She slammed it shut. In a flash of bright blue light, The Box was gone.
She quickly dumped out her most prized jewelry box, pulled out the foam and wood, and placed the book inside. She had to make sure it would be found during the time that The Box was sent or all would be lost. She dashed as fast as she could to the old dorm at Christ Church College and stepped inside the broken down building. She found some loose floorboards and stowed the box inside, putting as much sand on top of it as possible so it could survive. After burying the parcel, she fell to the floor, dropping her lantern. The glass broke. Flames licked at the floorboards and she was glad she had buried it. She couldn't move. She called out for someone to help. A figure appeared. She smiled just as she had then. The White Rabbit returned for her just as he said he would when the time came. He picked her up and carried her away from the burning dorm into Wonderland. The young woman lay in a lavish bed in the old queen's palace. The White Rabbit tended to her burns and helped her sip green tea. The woman's lips whispered “Thank...You...” and she was gone. The remains of her soul were dressed in the finest clothes that the tiny country could offer and placed her in a glass and gold case and enshrined her in the palace abbey. At the funeral, the Rabbit left a single rose at the shrine. Attached was a note.
“No my dear,
I should be thanking You,
my Dear Friend Alice.
W.R.”
Hundreds of years later, the jewelry box was unearthed.

Hack, Hack, Hack, Chunk.
Same old Same old, Edward Lang thought unhappily as he hacked away at the hole he was digging. A crackly sound came over his cell phone/walkie talkie. “Dad.” Lang sighed as he set down his shovel and sat on the side of the pit. It was Jaden, his 13 year old son.  “Yeah what is it? It better not be another spoon!” Jadens voice came again “No. it's something bigger. Alot bigger than a spoon.” he crawled out of the pit and dusted himself off. “i'm on my way.” he began walking across the courtyard to the site. The current Dean of Christ Church College asked Lang if he would come and see if there was anything worthwhile in the two lots of land where the library and second dorm were.
The Second Dorm had been abandoned after some incident in the 1800's with the expansion of the college, and was burnt down in 1881. The most intriguing part that drew Lang and Jaden into the job, was that the perpetrator of the crime was a daughter of a former Dean, Alice Liddell Hargreaves, who was also the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's beloved tale of Alice in Wonderland. The pair looked into the fire and medical records of Mrs. Hargreaves to see if there was any link. What they found was astronomical. A police record of the event stated that leading away from the burns site were human footprints, stained with soot, that seemed to change into rather large Rabbit Paws. It was almost eerie.
Almost.
Lang made it to the site just as they were bringing the object up for inspection. “oh, Dad, you're here! Now we can open it!” Jaden pointed to the thing as he spoke.
It was a jewelry box.
But not just any box.
It seemed to be hand crafted from rosewood, and painted in a fine green laquer. Despite it being almost one-hundred years old, the box was in remarkably good shape. But it was the lid that stunned Lang most of all.
A Beautiful white rabbit laying on a small patch of Roses was painted on the top. Beneath it, was a small banner.
It had a name.
And this was what was most shocking of all.
Alice Pleasence Liddell
He set it down and quickly unlocked the box.
Inside was a book.
It's cover, he could guess, was where most Americans and those of the English speaking countries in the rest of the world would say was the back. Japanese style.
He opened it and it blew his mind. It was whole language, but he could understand none of it. One persons name came to mind when he thought they should try to decipher it.
Emma.
Later that night, he cleaned the box as much as he could without harming it. He put it in a first class box and began writing a letter to his ex-wife about his discovery and her role in it now.
He began with...
Emma,
You won't believe what we just found...

Author's Comments

I have a few note about Alice Liddell.
1) she did not die at 28
2) she did not die because of a fire
3) i don't think she had a relationship with the White Rabbit.
